Ok, I know I can’t seem to move on past wrestling. But what can I do? Between actual work and having a life, wrestling is the only thing I could squeeze in.
Anyway, I would like to take back some of the things I said. I was wrong. I’ve started to appreciate some of the things WWE has done. Let’s start with JeriShow.
Jeri-Show
I wasn’t a fan of these two at first but damn! These two sure have nice chemistry together. I’m starting to catch the trend now – WWE is matching great wrestlers with great speakers. Just look at Regal’s new faction and the tandem of MVP and Mark Henry. Not only does Jeri-Show put back a sense of prestige into the tag team division, they also help push other wrestlers from all three brands (don’t you wish they showed up at ECW as well?).
What the hell is going on with RAW?
You get The Miz “banned from RAW and Summerslam (or Summerfest as Jeremy Piven would have it) only to win a contract-on-a-pole match one week later. DX will be reforming for the 845,254,896,321th time. You’ve got Jericho and Big Show walking out to that god-awful remix of their original songs.
The Miz
You’ve got a guy who could possibly dominate the WWE in the near future. He got noticed when he was building a rivalry with Cena. Their matches, albeit short, were actually good. Then thanks to Jeremy Piven, got himself in a match with the stipulation being that if Miz loses, he’s banned from RAW and Summerslam.
He lost (no surprise there). Now, I thought he was being shipped to another show. I was hoping he goes back to ECW to slug it out with Christian. Instead he comes out as the Calgary Kid and wins a contract making his loss last week seem pointless.
Here’s the thing – he was never fired. He was “banned” from RAW and Summerslam after losing his match last week. BANNED. Getting fired and getting banned are two different things. So shouldn’t that contract he got seem useless for someone who was never fired?

Are you kidding me? The Brian Kendrick. The man with a plan. The best thing since sliced bread. Fired?!?!
WWE must be losing their minds! But I’d be lying if I told you this came as a shock. He’s been jobbing now for quite some time. He’s been on a losing streak for so damn long. Still, The Brian Kendrick is one of the best wrestlers they’ve got – well, used to have anyway. He’s a sound mid-card player. And I think there’s still a lot of things you could do with his character. WWE just had to push him a little further. ECW could use a guy like him.
Too bad he had to be let go. TNA would be stupid to let this guy hang up his boots. I smell a new contender for the X Division title.
The trade for Vince Carter made by the Orlando Magic was an obvious foreboding that Hedo Turkoglu will hook up with another team. The NBA is a tough business run by savvy owners with the objective of putting up a competitive team that will draw them revenue. Although Turkoglu would have wanted to stay with Orlando, he has to do what’s right for him and his family by signing up a long-term contract worth at least $10 million per year with Toronto. Good for the Raptors. They get a clutch performing point forward that will definitely compliment Chris Bosh.
Despite the loss of Turk, Magic GM Otis Smith did a bravura job in ensuring that the team won’t be left without a legitimate replacement for the Turkey sensation. As mentioned before, Carter still has mad hops and will be more than capable to bring in the 17-5-5 Turkoglu produced last season. The only issue would be the possible tampering of chemistry, but with Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson being the clear-cut team captains, that won’t be much of a concern.
However, Vince Carter isn’t the guy who will vault the Magic to the top of the standings, not to mention, another crack at the championship. It’s the acquisition of Brandon Bass and Matt Barnes, as well as the resigning of Marcin Gortat that clearly put the Orlando Magic back into serious contention. How the management pulled off some of the most inspired personnel moves in team history is simply beyond me. But hey, I’m not complaining.
This may come in a bit too late considering how long it’s been since UFC 100 rocked our world with awesome matches and controversial victories. But don’t blame me. I couldn’t write about something I didn’t see. Good thing I got to watch UFC 100 last weekend on replay and god, it was so good!
I’m not here to tell you abut the matches though. I’m blabbing about one man and one man alone – Brock Lesnar. The former WWE superstar brought the house down along with Frank Mir who unfortunately didn’t look like he was anywhere near the man who dealt Brock his only loss some time ago.
Personally, I was behind Frank Mir 100 percent as I wanted him to regain his belt. However, seeing how Brock Lesnar has become an immovable force inside the octagon in just 5 MMA matches, I say he deserves it more at least for the time being.
