Tekken it to the next level!!!
All hail Namco! After a long wait, the next installment to one of my favorite games is now out. Enter Tekken 6, the 3D fighting game that became the standard of all fighting games since it’s release. No fighting game has been able to compare to the complexity of Tekken, with it’s sidesteps, counter attacks, counter throws, combos, etc. Tekken 6 surely continues the tradition of hard hitting launchers and complex jugglers.
I’ve seen some video footage of a group of players testing out the first arcade release, and words can’t explain just how good the game looks. The new moves and new characters were also something to watch, this is one game that will definitely be a big here. Fighting purists are sure to enjoy this game, because aside from the usual Tekken stuff, they’ve added the “rage mode”. I’m still not sure what this does, but it sure sounds cool and I can’t wait to see it in action.
Tekken 6 also features 4 new characters, making it a total of 40 playable characters. The largest line up next to Capcom’s StreetFighter and Akklaim’s Mortal Kombat. It also has a new story in where we see Jin Kazama as head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, while Heihachi Mishima is reportedly missing. But I’m sure that people don’t play this game for the story, it’s the face busting action that most of these people enjoy.
The intro trailer was amazing, the game footage was even better. You can go to YouTube for some of the gameplay footage. The quality isn’t that good, coz’ it looks like the video was taken with a camera phone or something. But it’s better than nothing I guess, and it did give me a preview of how the game actually looks. Once final testing of the game is complete, I’m sure that some decent videos will come out. So right now I’m still waiting for the game to arrive in our shores, and until then I’m left playing with Tekken 5DR, which isn’t really a problem since I still enjoy the game anyways.
