Look Out For The Dark Knight

So it’s 2008. It’s a real year to look out for. There are so many things going down this year such as the release of films like the latest installment to Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford, at 65, still looks great in that leather jacket), in the music scene there are still some new bands bound to come out soon and I’m sure Britney would still keep doing shitload of stupid things to make this year the craziest since Bush became president.

But there’s also the release of the next installment to the Batman series called The Dark Knight (aka Batman Begins 2). Why is this worth looking out for? Two words – Heath Ledger.

Yes, he’ll be taking on the role of The Joker. Yeah, from a gay cowboy to a mad killer – talk about versatility. Looking at the trailer alone is enough reason for anyone to agree. He made Jack Nicholson look like a sissy – in a clown costume that is.

It’s more than just who’s the better looking clown. It’s all about character. It’s about who could take on the role and actually own it. Heath did just that. I loved the psychotic side of the Joker. I’m loving him when he’s shooting down people like a crazy maniac rather than when he’s dancing around giving off laughing gas like he did in the Adam West days.

In the upcoming film, we actually see him be the bad ass that he truly is. The smeared make up, the weapons… we see it all.

Aside from that, we once again see Christian Bale on spandex again (that was in no way intended to sound gay at all). I’m just happy he’s gonna be back on screen taking on the role of the Batman. I believe he’s the best one. I’m sure everyone will agree with me that Val Kilmer isn’t… “bat material”.

I’m looking forward to this film’s release and hopefully it’ll be open in theaters real soon. Watching it would definitely put “a smile on my face…”
