Pinoy Pride: Fil-Am Spoelstra Named as New Heat Head Coach

This is a repost from FOULEDOUT!

Erik Celino Spoelstra was named as the new head coach of Miami Heat after Pat Riley stepped down. I’m not really familiar with this Spoelstra and I was thrilled to find out that he’s a Filipino-American. Spoelstra’s mother hails from San Pablo, Laguna and his father is a Dutch-Irish.

Spoelstra originally joined the Miami Heat organization as a video tape coordinator in 1995. He also helped the team in individual player training taking credit for honing Dwyane Wade’s shooting.  After spending 13 seasons with the Heat organization, Spoelstra finally climbed up the ladder and got his chance to call the shots for the Heat.

If my memory serves me right, I think Erik Spoelstra is the first and only Fil-Am who became a head coach for an NBA team. Kudos to the man. Congratulations and good luck to Erik Spoelstra for his tenure as the Miami Heat head coach.

You’ve seen Kobe jump over an Aston Martin. Now it’s Kenny’s turn. And to be fair, I like his jump better. Haha. I haven’t seen anything this funny in a long time. Look at how much Charles Barkley was cracking up!

I hoped ya’ll enjoyed that one.

Adamle In, Styles Out

We all know WWE likes to reshuffle the roster after WrestleMania. But I would not have expected that the commentators would have been affected at all. But alas, we bid goodbye to Coachman and Styles. I’d like to dedicate this particular blog to them and their respective replacements.

Joey Styles

I’ve never been a fan of Styles but I do have the utmost respect for this ECW Original. His mic work throughout the years is just as good as any other commentator legend. His contributions to the industry is nothing less than stellar. And what does he get out of all this? Handling the WWE Website.

It doesn’t seem fair. I don’t like it when they kick someone out of the announcing table and making all these sudden changes. I do know the importance of having someone competent running WWE’s corporate website - and as I’ve read somewhere, Styles is just that. But I don’t like WWE replacing him out of the blue. Oh, well.

I love this site. Why? I don’t have any idea. I just do. So after 8 months of posting one article after another, I say it’s about time we changed the design of The Geek Revolution. This new design ain’t much but it’s still a breath of fresh air. Maybe this’ll inspire me to write even more. Or not.

The WWE Ain’t What It Used To Be

When I’m lying in my bed before I go to bed I ask myself a lot of questions. Questions that doesn’t seem to matter but when in fact they do. Questions like “Why are we here?”, “What’s our true purpose?” or “Why isn’t she taking her clothes off? Didn’t I pay her enough?”. But one question pops back every effin night; Whatever happened to the WWE?

True, I still find the WWE shows entertaining and haven’t stopped watching it even when I couldn’t anymore since it got pulled out by my cable provider. But that’s all that it is now - entertainment. Unlike during the Attitude era of wrestling. Now that was wrestling at it’s finest. It was both entertainment and smash mouth wrestling.
