Adamle In, Styles Out

2008 April 29

We all know WWE likes to reshuffle the roster after WrestleMania. But I would not have expected that the commentators would have been affected at all. But alas, we bid goodbye to Coachman and Styles. I’d like to dedicate this particular blog to them and their respective replacements.

Joey Styles

I’ve never been a fan of Styles but I do have the utmost respect for this ECW Original. His mic work throughout the years is just as good as any other commentator legend. His contributions to the industry is nothing less than stellar. And what does he get out of all this? Handling the WWE Website.

It doesn’t seem fair. I don’t like it when they kick someone out of the announcing table and making all these sudden changes. I do know the importance of having someone competent running WWE’s corporate website – and as I’ve read somewhere, Styles is just that. But I don’t like WWE replacing him out of the blue. Oh, well.

Jonathan Coachman

The Coach has been one of my favorites for some time. I don’t know why and I know most will disagree with this seemingly weird choice of mine. I guess this all started when “The Coach” replaced Jim Ross while he was recovering from something. Then Jim Ross returns and just like that he’s off the announcing team. A couple of months later he worked as Eric Bishoff’s right hand made and had made his way into becoming one of the better heel sidekicks a GM can have.

And now it’s happening all over again.

He’s out of the SD! booth and only god knows where he’ll end up next. However, I’m not that disappointed because they had a really good replacement for him.

Mick Foley

Yep. You got that right. Mick Foley is now a SD! commentator. I saw him in action for the first time during Backlash and I really liked him on color commentary. He’s got credibility and the in-ring experience. And the tidbits he offers are just so believable.

I’m gonna love this guy on commentary. I can’t wait to watch SmackDown again.

Mike Adamle

Where the hell did this guy come from? Seriously, I haven’t been watching ECW in a while. I was shocked as hell to see this guy getting all the airtime. And as far as all these commentators go, he’s the one that’s got all the heat.

They say him replacing Styles is proof that ECW has indeed died and will never be the same as the old ECW. Well, I’ve got news for you and you won’t like it – ECW died the day Lashley became champion. That means Adamle replacing Styles didn’t signify the death of the true ECW. It was more like the last nail on the coffin.

To be fair, he’s doing a pretty decent job minus the forgivable flaws of his work so far. Give the guy a break. Everybody’s trying to bash the guy because he keeps on screwing up. Well, it ain’t easy being a commentator and good commentators doesn’t exactly fall from trees.

Maybe people could accept the guy more should they also accept that the ECW they’ve learned to love isn’t there anymore. It hasn’t been there in a while. And perhaps it will never be seen again.
