The New King – William Regal

Ladies and gentlemen, I have found reason to watch RAW again. The story lines that they’ve been producing now are just that good. I think another JBL-Cena rivalry can only do good for the business. And the Shawn-Jericho match up seems real tempting. That rivalry would certainly be better than the Jericho-JBL flop they had a few weeks back.

But most of all, I’m watching RAW again because they’re finally giving an underrated superstar a chance to be on top. Finally, William Regal is now on top of the WWE food chain.

Yes, I know Regal isn’t your typical superstar. He’s English for crying out loud. The only British superstar that made it big would be the British Bulldog. And he wasn’t exactly on the top back then. But Regal has been in the company for a long time. And being simply a GM isn’t gonna cut it for me.

When WWE decided to make him the King Of The Ring, I knew it was gonna be a huge hit. Who better to be king than Regal? And now that he is, he has been pulling off one stunt after another. WWE was cut off the air courtesy of the stage crew beatdown he did. Then he’s been feuding with Kennedy and HHH in between turning the lights on and off in the middle of the show. He’s creating so much controversy and I’m loving it.

Now, I don’t know who they’re planning to match up against him in the ring. It’s either HHH or Kennedy. But I’ll tell you what, if he would be able to stand toe to toe with HHH, he might be able to grab hold of that WWE Championship he’s been dreaming of for the longest time.

One thing though, I think he ought to experiment with different wrestling styles now. I like him better when he’s aggressive. Real aggressive. I like it when he’s all poised in the ring then snaps when he hears the bell. Just like when he was in the King Of The Ring tournament.

I just hope Regal would have much success just as Booker T when he became the “King”.

Meh, Regal is a good worker but I dont see him holding the Big One yet unless Triple H rally for him to be the champ.

Finally. Anyhoo, Regal was very instrumental in triple h going to the wwe in the first place, and they were even supposed to team up (in The Blue Bloods I think, but when HH left Bobby Eaton took his place).

Loved Regal ever since the WCW days, he and Flair used to tear it up. Regal never got past holding the WCW TV title though.

Regal’s a character, from being the first guy to join the Kiss My Ass Club, to having awesome matches with Jericho, Finlay and others, to being Eugene’s manager/friend, to WWE Commissioner (with hilarious assistant Tajiri) and now, King and GM… Regal has always been in the spotlight. The problem is, like in WCW, no one just seems to notice him for long.
